Using Word Clouds to Show Character Traits

My second graders have been working on keyboarding skills.  They are doing a great job with their home row keys but are starting to loose steam.  I wanted a project that would tie into their literacy work and show them why they need to learn to keyboard.  I asked them to create word clouds about themselves as a way for them to practice typing capital letters (in their name) and to think about the character traits they would use to describe themselves.   We used ABCYa Word Clouds as it's easy to use and works on Chromebooks.  For the next lesson, we started to talk about book characters and how we can use word clouds to describe character traits.Students even challenged themselves to compare themselves and their favorite book character.
