Introducing Dash

I was thrilled to be selected to participate in the Wonder Workshop pilot program and received 6 Dash and 6 Dot robots last week.  They are now fully charged and I spent the weekend writing lesson plans to begin to incorporate them into my Elementary Technology Curriculum.  Next week our school will be taking the PARCC tests, so I won't have access to the Chromebooks we usually use for Tech class.  This will be the perfect opportunity to introduce Dash and Dot to the students.  Students had a brief introduction to coding using Kodable, LightBot, and Code.org tutorials during the Hour of Code.  So, I anticipate that they will catch on quickly to the Blockly App.

I had a chance to introduce Dash to a few 5th grade students during lunch today.  We had some fun moving Dash around on an old First Lego League Mat.  They quickly figured out Blockly and did a great job writing an algorithm to move along the lines.

Later in the day, a second grader stopped the computer lab to pick up his brother from our Minecraft Club.  I showed him Dash and he had a great time exploring both the Go App and some simple moves with Blockly.

Thank you Wonder Workshop for these great learning tools!  I am looking forward to many happy and exciting adventures with Dash and Dot.  I'll be posting pictures and lesson plans from our adventures as they happen.
