Collaboration from a Distance on Google Classroom

I stayed home sick today and planned to go over the Digital Citizenship Poster assignment with my 5th graders today.  I really want to finish this project before spring break, so losing today wasn't an option.  Luckily I use Google Classroom with 5th graders and was able to post the assignment in Google Classroom and ask the students to read the prompt and rubric and then post their questions on Google Classroom.  I logged in from home during their class and was able to field questions.  This is just one of the many reasons I love Google Classroom.

In my 4th grade class, students completed several projects using Google Draw and Google Slides.  I've already provided feedback and grades to students, but hadn't had a chance to let students go back and revise their work a final time.  I figured today was the perfect chance to do that.  I've been logged on giving students feedback during that class as well.

I was observing in a 8th grade classroom a couple of weeks ago and saw another great example of collaboration.  Students in this social studies classroom were working on Slide Presentations as a group -- each group was assigned a region of the world and time period to analyze.  There was a student absent who logged on during class and was able to participate through a shared document from home.

Google Apps and Google Classroom provide students that great opportunity for communication and collaboration.
