2nd Grade Lunch Bunch

Today was the last day of my 2nd grade lunch bunch group.  Students had the choice of several activities with Dash and Dot today.  The first activity was called Around the US.  Students worked with partners to drive Dash between states on the US map.  The "driver" had the choice of using the Go App or writing an algorithm in Blocky.  Most students picked the Go App during the first round and then quickly switched to Blockly.  The reasoning, "it's more precise to use Blockly to write an algorithm than to use Go which is like a remote control and isn't so accurate".

The second activity was to build a maze with blocks and then drive dash through the maze. Again students had the choice between the Go App or Blockly.  Most chose Blockly and did a great job writing their algorithms.

The final activity was to create loops to show patterns with Dot.  Students enjoyed this task as they really like the light and sound patterns that both Dash and Dot can do.

The final question students had ... can we do this again soon?
